Find a way
Rick Janney reminds us,
During the Vietnam war U.S. fighter pilots experienced something unprecedented. High losses in jet to jet encounters. The brass in the Airforce and Navy placed all their chips on the missle and “dogfighting” became a thing of the past in their minds.
Fighter pilots had no real concept of air to air close in fighting. The F4 phantom didn’t even have a cannon system, unlike it’s adversaries. Thankfully the F8 crusader group proved just how vital these tactics and armaments were.
In 1969 the answer to this problem was the now-famous school of Top Gun. It changed everything from aircraft weapons platforms to fighter pilot mentality.
A personal lesson, if your losses are superseding wins you desperately need to reevaluate the situation and not only objectively take lessons from past failures but formulate proper tactics and training. Then apply it. Teach your mind to engage and succeed.
Getting shot down is not an option.
Learn from your losses. They do not have to be acceptable. Look forward and find a way. A winner gets up, moves forward and finds a way.
Don’t say I can. Say YES I WILL.
Find a Way.
