We grew up in the sixties and seventies. We thought retirement would be a time for us to enjoy the fruits of our labors. Ends up we’re taking care of our kids, grandkids and parents. What’s up with that.

We’re supposed to be retired but instead we’re helping take care of our kids, our grandkids, and her parents.

Back in the gleaming days of the sixties and seventies, when peace, love, and rock 'n' roll threaded through the fabric of our lives, retirement was a distant shore, glistening with promises of leisure and freedom. We dreamt of twilight years spent recollecting the tales of our youth with our feet up and our hearts at ease, basking in the golden afterglow of our working lives. Yet, here we stand, at the crossroads of generations, where our dreams and reality intertwine in the most unexpected of ways.

We are the builders of bridges and the bearers of legacies, caught in the dance of time where the music never stops, and we’re finding that our golden years are as much about giving as they have been about achieving. It dawned upon us that the long-awaited rest is also a new beginning. A chapter of nurturing, supporting, and guiding not just one, but multiple generations.
