Global Warming? Really?
Snow in Florida? Are you kidding me?
When I woke up today, it was 5°. With the wind chill, it felt like -4. I can’t deal with this anymore. I used to love cold weather — skiing, ice fishing, spending time outside. But as I’ve gotten older, the cold feels unbearable. For the last couple of years, winters around here have been pretty mild. But this? This is freezing like never before. I’m already counting down the days to summer. It feels like some of the coldest weather we’ve seen in a long time.
And what’s all this talk about global warming? I know some say we’re destroying the planet, but others claim it’s just a natural cycle the Earth has been going through for millions of years. Maybe it’s both, or maybe it’s neither. What I do know is that I’m tired of being lectured. Electric cars? Reducing fossil fuels? Sure, those ideas have merit in the long term, but for now, can we stop pretending we’re ready to ditch the things that work?
We’ve built a comfortable, modern way of living with gas cars, wood stoves, home heating oil, and, yes, campfires. Why should we toss all that away for technology that isn’t quite there yet? I’m all for innovations when they truly work, but maybe it’ll take 100 years before they’re ready to replace everything. Until then, let’s stick with what we know.
