The Cop And The Tow Truck
A Power Trip
Officer John had been on patrol for hours. He was hungry and exhausted, but he was determined to make it through his shift without taking a break. That is until he heard the siren of his fellow officer’s car wailing in the distance. It was then that he decided to take a quick lunch break, never suspecting that when he returned, something strange would be waiting for him.
When Officer John got back to where he’d parked his car, a marked police vehicle, he was surprised to find another cop standing there with a tow truck driver. What was going on? He approached cautiously and asked what was happening. Much to his surprise, this other officer told him he’d called in a tow truck to impound his patrol car! Officer John demanded an explanation. All the other officer said was, “because I could.”
Officer John knew exactly what this meant. The other cop wanted to make a name for himself and saw an opportunity. He figured impounding another cop’s car would get people talking and maybe even land him some extra brownie points with the higher-ups. But it didn’t end up working out that way. Instead of being praised for his actions, this officer ended up getting reprimanded by his superior for misusing police resources and undermining trust between officers.
