In blacksmithing, the anvil is a tool, while the bladesmith is the artist. The quality of a knife largely depends on the bladesmith’s expertise in choosing the right steel, heating and shaping it correctly, and sharpening the blade to perfection. While a high-quality anvil can make the process easier, an experienced bladesmith can overcome any limitations of a lesser-quality anvil. Therefore, the skill and knowledge of the bladesmith play a far more significant role in determining the quality of the knife than the quality of the anvil.

So, if you want a great knife, find a skilled bladesmith.
